Sevā :: The Act of Selfless Giving

Sevā {say-vah} is a big part of what we do at Fire Horse Yoga -- in 2023, we donated over $1,500 of yoga, gift cards, yoga mats, and hygiene products to various organizations. We've already hit the ground running in 2024 with donations to the Jasper Band Parents Auction and the Dance Central Academy of Performing Arts Daddy-Daughter Dance.

Sevā is a Sanskrit word that describes the act of selfless service. Its meaning is said to be embodied by the root words saha {with that} and eva {too} meaning 'together with' when combined.

Sevā is an act of selfless service without regard for individual outcome and done for the collective benefit of all. Sevā puts compassion and care for others above oneself. The Bhagavad Gita {one of those ancient texts we mentioned in the Foundations Workshop } encourages selfless service as a way to develop spiritually.

Currently (and all year long, actually!), we're focused on collecting menstrual hygiene products for @isupportthegirls as our studio-wide Sevā project -- donating to our front desk bin is even a square on our January BINGO Challenge! Drop-offs can be made at the studio before or after class times or by contacting us directly for a specific drop-off time.

And if you're a local organization, non-profit, or festival looking for auction items, sponsorships or yoga for your event, get in touch! We're happy to do what we can to support our local causes and organizations.
