Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep as it is commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation technique. As you lie down, supported in savasana, all you have to do is follow Lydia's voice. Falling asleep is okay too, as you will still receive benefits while the unconscious mind is absorbing the practice. Yoga nidra offers a space to explore what you need in the moment, as well as an opportunity to work on releasing long-held emotions. The class will start with a few gentle stretches to prepare your body for stillness. "Most people are trying to change themselves," says Richard Miller, a San Francisco Bay Area yoga teacher and clinical psychologist. "Yoga nidra asks them to welcome themselves. That moment of true welcoming is where the profound transformation takes place."
